Agenda Monday April 30, 2018- Friday May 4, 201

MS-LS2-1.Analyze and interpret data to provide evidence for the effects of resource availability on organisms and populations of organisms in an ecosystem.
MS-LS2-2.Construct an explanation that predicts patterns of interactions among organisms across multiple ecosystems.
MS-LS2-3.Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.
MS-LS2-4.Construct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations.
MS-LS2-5.Evaluate competing design solutions for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services.*

Objective: How does different land use affect our local watershed?
Due today- NOTHING

Agenda:
QW:   none
Analyze Big Chico Creek and Horseshoe Lake water chemistry
What does it show us?  Can you tell which had the : detergent? Fertilizer?
 Plants?
Based on the chemical tests, how healthy are each of the five ponds for living organisms, for each waterway?
If you tested BCC you need to analyze Horseshoe lake. If you tested Horseshoe Lake please analyze BCC.

engineering challenge
Draw a model  of your plan on p69 Draw how the water molecules
might move through the filtration system
Build it, begin tests

Homework: none

Tuesday May 1, 2018

Objective:  How does different land use affect our local watershed?  How does looking at our local watershed allow us to understand ecosystems?
Due today: nothing
Agenda:
QW: none
finish water quality chemistry
Analyze Big Chico Creek  water quality chemistry  complete on p 68
Make a claim:
Which organisms are the most 'important' to the ecosystem?
Provide evidence from the web:

Support your evidence with the reasons you have:

Due Wednesday

Build and test water filters
plan, draw and  make one design change
retest

Homework: none

Objective:   How does different land use affect our local watershed?  How does looking at our local watershed allow us to understand ecosystems?
Due today:
Agenda:
QW:  Which aspect of the design process did you enjoy?  Why?  Was your filter effective?  Why or why not?  What would you do differently next time?

Engineering challenge self and group evaluation

Assessment Directions (link is embedded)
Group poster-A Abandoned animal shelter is proposed for Annies Glenn area.
Students might be able to volunteer there after it is built.

Use ALL of your: graphic organizers, food web information, water quality testing, video notes.
Include as much detail as you can in the group poster. See link above for details
